Day Ride to Rayís
This was a tough but
rewarding day out, led by Jackie Fones. We called in
at the Severn Valley Visitor Centre and then made
our way through to Rayís Farm. Despite early
evidence of storms and heavy rain it became a
flaming June day, with a good tail wind. Progress
was slowed down by fallen trees on the Jack Mitten
Way. At Rayís Farm we had the usual treat of tea
and cakes and also a comprehensive display of owls.
( Did you know an owl turns its head because it
cannot move its eyes- interesting that).
Car /Cycle. Dolgellau Wales
In May of this year a
group of members travelled to Dolgellau
in Wales for a 2 day tour.
Most of us travelled by car but one intrepid member
cycled there and back. Overnight stays ranged from
YHA to caravans and B&B, and we came together for
the two tours and social evenings.
The Saturday tour was 36
miles, circumnavigating Cader Idris, both on and off
road. The weather was wonderful and allowed
spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and
the Mawddach estuary.
The Sunday tour
covered flatter terrain, travelling along the
Mawddach Trail. This 18 mile round trip to Barmouth
brought us conveniently back to the George III Hotel
for refreshments. This was a great 2 day trip,
enjoyed by all.

members and non-members came together in April to go
to the National Cycle Museum in Wales. Although it
was wet and cold it was both an informative and
sociable day. Freda Davis, curator of the museum,
was welcoming and accommodating to our group. We had
a great day out which allowed us to talk of cycles
of yester year and to look around Llandrindod Wells
